Societa art. Vetraria

On Christmas Eve 1856 an association under the name of 'Societa Art Vetreria' (the Glass Artists' Society) was formed by 84 glassmakers from Altare, Italy. It was an example of Italian industrial cooperative.  S.A.V. exhibited their products at the Industrial Exhibitions in Savona in 1857, in Turin in the year 1858, where their products were awarded a silver medal. In 1978 the company's furnaces close.
The production dates of the glass fishing floats marked 'Societa Art Vetraria' are unknown.
The location of the marking is on the side of the glass: 'Societa Art Vetraria' is a circular writing and 'Altare' is written right under it.
